Montone in northern Umbria, close to Tuscany, is one of the most beautiful hilltop towns in Italy and a strong favourite of many. The historic town has been fully restored to its former glory and has a wonderful maze of narrow streets, often steep and winding, to explore. There are some lovely restaurants and sufficient facilities to keep your fridge stocked.
From the winding road that leads up to Montone the views are simply stunning, with extensive views across the green countryside and hills. And to be able to sit and enjoy these views from all around Montone itself is a relaxing way to enjoy this beautiful town.
