Taking the train from Milan Malpensa airport to Como gets a whole lot easier from June 2018. A direct rail service is opening linking from the airport to Como San Giovanni station. The route takes you into Switzerland and via Mendrisio to arrive in Como on the Italian side of the Swiss border.
Property owners on Lake Como who like to travel by ferry and avoid having a car on the lake will be delighted.
Currently the train journey requires a change at Saronno and takes around 1 hour 30 minutes, longer on Sundays when the change involves an especially long wait if you are heading back to the airport.
The news is that the new service will run every 2 hours to the airport, first train at 7:13 and last train leaving at 21:13.
